Celebrating the musicians'day, Saint Cecilia, the Embassy of Peru will organize a chamber music concert at the Helsinki City Hall. The program will include works by Peruvian composers living in Finland, Luis Fiestas and Rafael Junchaya among others.
Thanks to the support of the Finnish Arts Council with the collaboration of the Finnish Embassy in Lima, the Conservatory of the city of Arequipa in Peru and the San Marcos University, Aurinko traveled to Peru in August to present two concerts in Arequipa and one in Lima. The members of the group held also masterclasses in their instruments and our composer Rafael Junchaya will give a composition workshop for the students. Our programs included Finnish, Peruvian, Brazilian, Colombian and Argentinian compositions. The group was conformed by: Inka Eerola, violin; Kaisa Mäenpää, clarinet; Clara Petrozzi, viola; Tuure Paalanen, cello; Grisell Macdonel, double bass, and Rafael Junchaya, piano.
Rays of Sun - Chamber music concert

Aurinko performed a chamber music concert with part of the tour program to be presented in Peru in August 2016. The concert was held at the Koskela church in Helsinki thanks to the collaboration of the Music Institute of Käpylä. The concert included works by Erkki Melartin, Sergio Gutiérrez, Rafael L Junchaya, Carlos Sánchez Málaga, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Aldo Rojas and also arrangements made by Rafael L Junchaya of compositions by Jean Sibelius and Astor Piazzolla.
The members of Aurinko in this concert were the same musicians that take part in the concert tour in August: Inka Eerola, violin; Clara Petrozzi, viola; Tuure Paalanen, cello; Grisell Macdonel, double bass; Kaisa Mäenpää, clarinet, and Rafael Junchaya, piano.
Aurinko - música de Latinoamérica ry presented a recital by Clara Petrozzi, viola, and Claudia Graupner, piano on April the 16th at the Hakasalmen huvila (Helsinki City Museum).
The recital presented music from Brazilian and Peruvian composers from the 20th and 21st centuries, among them Heitor Villa-Lobos, César Guerra-Peixe and Marlos Nobre from Brazil and Carlos Sánchez Málaga, Armando Guevara Ochoa, Rafael Junchaya and Clara Petrozzi from Peru.
Pikku Auringon syyslattarit!
Aurinko - música de Latinoamérica ry held a music course for children at the autumn holidays. The course was held at Käpylä Music Institute with the gentle support of the Arts Promotion Centre Finland. The final concert took place at the Koskela chapel.
The ensamble was in this occassion a quintet comprised by Mikael Helasvuo (flute), Kaisa Mäenpää (clarinet), Clara Petrozzi (viola), Timo Hanhinen (cello) and Laura Havu (piano) performed new Colombian music by young composers and gave master classes at the Caldas University in Manizales.
This tour is the second part of a project which started in April 2014, when the quintet performed this Colombian music in Helsinki. The Colombian composer Héctor Fabio Torres was then present at the premiere of his work Dead end for quintet and video.
The other works to be performed are Fiestas de Pubenza by Carolina Noguera Palau, Intersecciones by Matías de Roux, Díptico Nubes by Sergio Gutiérrez and Selva Roja by Sergio Castrillón, who is also a member of Aurinko.
The tour was supported by the Arts Promotion Center of Finland, the city of Helsinki and the Caldas University in Manizales, Colombia.
The Aurinko ensemble presented a concert with its tour programme on Thursday, February the 12th at Koskela church, Käpyläntie 11, Helsinki.

Rafael Junchaya, composer member of Aurinko, held a concert of his own works on Wednesday, December 3rd at the Music Room of Topelia at the University of Helsinki. Aurinko Ensamble was in charge of the performance, which included works written between 1989 and 2013. The performers in this concert were:

The works presented included two electronic compositions, Sevoc Anatos and Die Erscheinung; Preludio for piano; Three episkenic dances for piano, clarinets and saxophones; Järven ääressä for viola; Die Abschiede for viola and piano; and the String Quartett "Classical" op. 20.
The concert was sponsored by the city of Vantaa, the University of Helsinki and the Embassy of Peru in Finland.
Luis Malca, Peruvian guitar player who resides in Madrid, presented a concert with the title
The Guitar in Peru in the XVIII and XIX centuries
the program included works by Mathias Maestro, Pedro Ximénez de Abril Tirado, Máximo Puente-Arnao, Leo Brouwer and Isabel Granda. The concert was held at the Chamber Music Hall of Metropolia, Ruoholahdentori 6, Helsinki, on Friday the 31th October 2014, at 19.00 hours.

Christmas concert Saman joulutähden alla
Aurinko presented a Christmas program on Sunday the 1st of December 2013 at the Koskela church, Käpyläntie 11, Helsinki, at 6:30 pm. The program included Latin American Baroque with Christmas themes interpreted by the Aurinko Ensemble and Latin American Christmas songs by Pikku Aurinko, a group of children and youngsters playing and singing in Spanish.
Aurinko performed a chamber music concert for strings as a part of the Latin American Music Festival organized by Metropolia University of Applied Sciences
07.10.2013 was the concert at the Metropolia Concert Hall, Ruoholahdentori 6. The program included three new works by Luis Fiestas, Rafael L Junchaya and Clara Petrozzi. Aurinko string quintett was formed by: Luis Fiestas and Inka Eerola, violins; Clara Petrozzi, viola; Maarit Mäkinen, cello, and Grisell Macdonel, double bass.
Latin American musi concert with young players Saman Auringon alla (Under the same sun) 28.04.2013
Aurinko organized a concert with young players aged 5 up performing guitar, piano, violin and viola. The program was exclusively Latin American. We also sang songs in Spanish, Portugal and Quechua!
The program included folk, popular and art music. The rehearsals emphasized multiculturality and cultural change issues.

Aurinko presented a program of Peruvian chamber music at Caisa Cultural Centre, Mikonkatu 17 c, Helsinki, on Wednesday the 13th March, at 18.30 hours.
The program included works by: Alfonso de Silva, Enrique Iturriaga, Celso Garrido-Lecca, Edgar Valcárcel, Rafael Junchaya Gómez, Gonzalo Garrido-Lecca and Antonio Gervasoni.
The concert was supported by the Embassy of Peru in Finland as a part of the Peruvian Culture Week organized by the Embassy.

Clara Petrozzi and Itzam Zapata had a short presentation with musical examples at Think Corner, with the title "Latin music renewed" on Wednesday the 28th November, 12.15 and repetition at 13.30 hours.

Aurinko participatde at the culture festival organized by the Asociación de Países Amigos - Ystävyyskansat ry, with a concert invited by the Embassy of Peru in Helsinki.
The concert included chamber music mainly by Peruvian composers, but also other Latin American authors such as Leo Brouwer (Cuba).
The concert was held at Caisa Cultural Centre, Mikonkatu 17 C, Helsinki, on Wednesday the 28th November at 18.00 hours.
Säveltäjät auringon alla! - Composers Under the Sun!
Aurinko presented compositions written by its member composers on Saturday, September the 29th 2012 at the cultural center Stoa, Turunlinnantie 1, Itäkeskus, Helsinki.
The programme included works by Sergio Castrillón, Rafael L Junchaya, Sergio Natali, Clara Petrozzi and Itzam Zapata. Among them were the premiere performances of Järven ääressä (by the Lake) for solo viola and Estancias II for soprano and string quartet by Rafael Junchaya, of Preludio for solo flute by Sergio Natali and of Näyt for flute, viola, cello and double bass by Clara Petrozzi. Sergio Castrillón and Itzam Zapata performed their own works. The other musicians performing were Inka Eerola (violin), Luis Fiestas (violin), Timo Hanhinen (cello), Mikael Helasvuo (flute), Annami Hylkilä (soprano), Grisell Macdonel (double bass)

Aurinko iloitsee – The sun rejoices: Latin American Christmas music
Aurinko – música de Latinoamérica ry presented a Christmas music concert with compositions from three different centuries on Sunday, November the 27th 2011, in the Lähetyskirkko church, Helsinki. The Aurinko ensembleperformed Peruvian and Brazilian Baroque pieces, Christmas dances and songs gathered in Northern Peru, lieder by Cuban Joaquín Nin and a string quartet piece by Peruvian Ernesto López Mindreau. Helsinki’s Latin American Choir performed the last part of the concert. Most of the compositions had their first performance in Finland.
This concert was sponsored by the Arts Council of Finland.
Our Sunny Social Evening was held at the Käpylän töväentalo, Helsinki, on August 4th. The event included a musical program, Latin American food, games and coffee. We thank all our friends who took part in it, specially our sponsors and collaborators: Paulig, Reilun Kaupan Tähti, Rita Eloranta, Laura Havu, Kirsi Hämäläinen and Agustín Gutiérrez Canet, Ambassador of Mexico in Finland. Aurinko presented a program of Mexican chamber music last November 26th, in cooperation with the Mexican Embassy in Helsinki. The concert was held in the Research Salon of the National Archives in Helsinki, which was the site of the exposition Finland-Mexico 2010. The program included: Preludes for piano by Carlos Chávez, Duo for duck and canary bird for voice and piano by Silvestre Revueltas, Madrigal for double bass and piano by Carlos Chávez, Música de feria for string quartet by Silvestre Revueltas, and Metro Chabacano, also for string quartet, by Javier Álvarez. The musicians of Aurinko who took part in this concert were: Laura Havu (piano), Flavia Di Nola (voice), Grisell Macdonel (double bass), Inka Eerola and Anna Pohjola (violins), Clara Petrozzi (viola) and Sanna Jääskeläinen (cello).
